Minouf – Global Street Sculpture Series

Minouf is a unique street art project that merges contemporary sculpture with global urban exploration. Created by Florent Duchesne, an emerging sculptor and industrial design student based in Montreal (The cover picture is an exemple of his work), Minouf takes the shape of a small stylized cat sculpture that is discreetly and poetically affixed to the walls of cities around the world. These miniature artworks are currently present in locations such as Detroit, New York, Québec City, Montréal, and Memphis.

Each Minouf sculpture symbolizes presence, emotion, and silent resilience. Until now, the pieces have been cast in concrete using silicone molds. However, the next phase of the project aims to elevate its materiality and impact: transitioning from concrete to aluminum, using a high-precision mold machined from tool steel H13. One side mold to make it easier to work with. Minouf will a hole in it to secure it on different type of wall using a concrete nail gun.

This upgrade will allow Minouf sculptures to become more durable and last in time, refined, and luminous, better suited to withstand diverse weather conditions while emphasizing their industrial and artistic duality.

To realize this evolution, I’m seeking sponsorship from PCBWay to CNC-machine a custom mold for aluminum casting. Your expertise in precision manufacturing would be crucial in transforming this artistic vision into reality. The final mold will not only serve this specific project but will also stand as a lasting example of how art and advanced manufacturing can intersect.
