I have a board that is driving 2 high power 3-phase motors. Majority of the signals on the board are low power except the 6 phase traces going to the motors. I would like a PCB with standard copper thickness like 2 oz outer/1 oz inner and only have thick copper on 6 traces on an external layer.
Idea would be to leave solder mask off of these 6 traces, have them etched out of 2 oz copper with everything else on the external layer, and then plate up only these traces to something as thick as possible. These thick traces would act like mini bus bars that I can then easily heatsink. Is this possible?
